HAPPY BLACK GIRL DAY!!!!!!!! #BITNB

     Happy Humpday Loves! Take a pause in your day to celebrate the awesometry that is YOU!!! The talented writer that is SistaToldja created "Happy Black Girl Day" several months ago, a Wednesday tribute to honor any and every Black girl (woman), because we're often neglected yet SO worthy!! The irony my first HBGD post falls after a trying Sunday for Black women on television. *le sigh*

    VH1's new Sunday night lineup features Chad "Ochocinco"Johnson's "The Ultimate Catch"followed by the "T.O. Show." Neither showcase the glory of Black woman as these "Brothas" search for a "mate"amongst a sea of suspicious mulattos with breast implants and the IQ of raisins (a whole box). I couldn't stomach 10 full minutes as both men seem to suffer from a deep self-hatred, suppressed by fleeting fame, athleticism, and attention. Then there was Boondocks. *Fingers to temple* This week, Grandpa dates the "Perfect Black Woman" yet I found little humor in depicting a successful Black woman as mythological as the unicorn (IMO). Anywho, I was ready to be INSPIRED!!!!

 Bitch Is The New Black by Helena Andrews, grants readers a first-hand account of modern city living and of course, dating, through the eyes of a young witty Black woman. A collection of essays pieced perfectly as a memoir, and she's not yet 30. The soon-to-be classic (yea I said it) hooked me instantly because parts were set in DC, and I too am young, smart, and single trying to find my way in the world. The love affair with the book began however, when soaking up her witty writing and introspective accounts of weightier subjects like kidnapping, homosexuality, depression and even abortion, all with brilliant honesty. A voyeuristic journey of 20-sexxxxy growing-pains, and I couldn't put it down! Any and everyone must cop this book ASAPington!!

Last night I attended the "Bitch Is The New Black" book signing/party at the Bella Vie boutique in Atlanta! The fete was sponsored by the Garner Circle, and featured chic clothing, cocktails, and great conversation. Helena Andrews was stunning in person, and a pleasure to meet (LUVed her Nicole Miller dress). It was inspiring to be in a room full of talented and successful women of varied shades of brown, to mingle and celebrate #BITNB. Oh, and there was shopping... :)
Savy entrepreneur Stacy Diltz of Savida Sangria, treated guests to "Bitch Bubbly" and Sangria... both were ah-mazing! My girls and I OFTEN partake  in the spirits and will add her bottles (available near you) when celebrating...anything!

 Shout Out to alllll the wonderful women we met last night, and thanks again to The Garner Circle PR for hosting such a great event!! Remember your WORTH ladies!! Happy Black Girl Day Indeed!!!

Basketball Heaux: Sterotypical Takeover on VH1

 Basketball Wives, is the breakout "hit" that airs on VH1's Sunday Stereotype (Coon Edition) evening entertainment block. Better dubbed "Basketball Heaux", I've tried faithfully for 4 weeks to hang in there and view, if only to support a Black show with an all-female cast. *Fingers to the temple/ DEEP Sigh* There are so many factors however, that make this show deplorable, I had to blog it out. A few reasons why I simply...cannot... with this joke of a show.
1) Show Title is Inflated BULLOCKS!!!- "Baskeball WIVES" would imply that these women are or (at least at some point in time) were married to NBA Players. So how did the producers/editors let pass that only (2) of the (6) casted have even seen a wedding band or certificate?!?! The show's executive producer Shaunie O'neal (Currently divorcing Shaq) and Jennifer Williams (married to Eric Williams) are the only qualifying leads. The other (4) are variations of jumpoffs, delusional relationships (Evelyn Lozado was "engaged" for over 10 years to Antoine Walker-sowwy boo. You were NOT the ONE), or the ever-common "Baby Mama" role.
2) Spousal Apperances Border Abusive & Controling- I'm not clear when it became okay, but misogyny and verbal abuse towards women is definately considered cool again. How else to explain the 2nd episode's uncomfortable dinner scene between Jennifer and her cheating husband Eric? The conversation where he (basically) admits to cheating, blames his infidelities on the highly "emotional" sport of basketball, tells his wife to get over it and get her own life, then finishes with refusing her company for the evening while he heads out with his "friends". *le Sigh* WHATTHEJOEJACKSONHELL?!?!
Or how about the 4th episode's dinner scene with Matt and naive fiance Gloria, though she plays Suzy Homemaker for her guests, the tense undertone remains his unspoken infidelities. Oh, and distrust of her friends becuase they may shed light to the truth which EVERYONE knows?! Now, I'm no relationship expert, but those that isolate, threaten, abuse, or are unequal emotionally in no way appear healthy. Errrryone knows the backstories on most of these jive-@$$ "relationships" thanks to MediaFakeout.com or your favorite gossip blogsite.
3) WHAT do they DO?! WHAT is their PURPOSE?! - Daunting tasks in the lives of the chosen, pampered and played, include shopping ("Lemme put down my Chanel bag"), makeovers ("Royce. Needs.Breast implants."), dinners ("It's my independence party!"), and of course, fiending off the always-thirsty female groupie. Yes, although the "wives" themselves were but a mere punanny-pop away from permenant groupie status, they feel threatened nearly every episode by alll the other women mimicking their lifestyles and actions. They have the nerve to fight other "groupies" like "Plastic Surgery" whilst out in public. Yes. Screaming and drink-throwing over the age of 30. Class was not a prerequisite for hooking up with these ladies nor securing reality show fame. #justsayin #Proofsintheepisode
      Yawwwwn. The entire cycle is rather sad due to the lack of substance. There's never discussion about anything relevant other than who's sexxing who's Baller, and judging by Royce's infamous "How Low" display**, they don't even qualify for free game tickets. Tragic. Aside from child rearing (only 1 wife is ever taped with offspring), and their attachment to famous penis, none have a valid reason to be televisied. Television/ pop culture has room for only one public sexpot with mindless, Jezebel antics experiencing zero consequence or judgement. Her name is Kim Kardashian. Basketball Heaux are #Latelikecnn.
     I hope this show is not renewed for an additional season, because Black women need another negative sterotype attached like the gulf coast needs BP oil. I have a feeling it will be picked up again due to it's popularity, talk of another spinoff (NFL Wives-DEAD), and the legions of young women who aspire for even a taste of the materialism, emotional voids, and lack of respect often associated with being a "Basketball Wife". Excuse me, VH1 has revealed their truth: Basketball Heaux. Exploiting their lifestyle for reality tv coin and exposure.

Papa Knowles Mu$t PAY, BSCOT in ATL, BUSH & TUSH, and MONICA!

Mathew Knowles: YOU ARE THE FATHER- Yesterday it was officially confirmed that Papa Knowles is in fact a rolling stone, as DNA testing proved he is the father to newborn male child Nixon, to mistress Alexsandra Wright. Papa Knowles allegedly carried on a 16-month affair with White, who filled for child support in Los Angeles courts.*le sigh* A L.A. judge ordered Knowles to pay $20,750 in back support for the month of January, monthly child support of $8,200 retroactive from February 1st and 100% of the uninsured medical costs. Nixon was born February 4,2010, and is the first male child for Mathew Knowles, who's wife (ex wife??) MamaTina Knowles filed for divorce last November. Neither Beyaki nor MamaTina have released a statement on the situation, but surely they are proud to have a new addition to their musical family. Um, congrats! IT'S BSCOOOOOTTT!!!-The YouTube/Media Underground sensation that is BSCOTT invaded Atlanta this week! My Sorors turned me on to his fabulousness last weekend, and I'm fascinated at his always perfect appearance, and hilarious catchphrases! How ironic that he hosted parties on Sunday and Monday, and spoke Tuesday at Morehouse College for their first annual Gay Pride Week. He also shot a top-secret photo shoot with the in-demand Derek Blanks (Alterego) and stopped by the Kenny Burns show on Beehive FM!! Whew!! BUSH & TUSH CHRONICLES CONTINUE-If you haven't heard by now, Kim & Reggie have split. This PR leak began on Monday when the rumors began the Bush broke up with Tush via text message while she was in Miami shooting Khloe & Kourtney Take Miami, and he was in New York. Allegedly the footage will be aired during the summer season of the show. Kim is now alleged to be dating a rich soccer star and was photographed yesterday looking #Outtacontrol. I was quite pleased to hear the breakup news however, as Bush is such a chocolate drop and newly single!
MONICA'S NEW ALBUM IS A SMASH-Yesterday ATL's own Ms. Monica released her 4th studio album in a decade, Still Standing. Rumored to not have the full support of J Records, her record label, the real tee-hee-hee was on Monica. Stores across the nation have reported selling out of the album yesterday, and the Billboard charts should reflect that her fans LOVE their Monica! Go cop this album to continue the support!

JANET ON LENO, CHICAGO MALE CLASS GOES TO COLLEGE, NEW BCARTER!!!

JANET SLAYS LENO INTERVIEW!-Last night, pop icon Janet Jackson made a special appearance on Jay Leno to promote her upcoming role in the Tyler Perry squeal, "Why Did I Get Married Too" which hits theaters next Friday. How amazing did Diva Jackson look?!? I died when I checked her shoe game, and her makeup/face was flawless. She was very composed and I'm rather excited to view her in the movie. Ya'll know I'm not the biggest T.Perry movie aficionado, but I did like "Why Did I Get Married" so you will find me in the movies next weekend. :)


WAY TO ACHIEVE!!! WAY TO ACHIEVE!!- Last week, an all-Black, all-male senior class from Englewood Urban Prep Academy charter school in  Chicago, IL made headlines as they were ALL ACCEPTED INTO COLLEGES/UNIVERSITIES!!!!! What amazing and inspiring news! All 107 young men in the school's first senior class gained entry to over 72 different schools including Northwestern, DePaul, University of Illinois, Rutgers, and of course, Howard University* to name a few. The young men were groomed upon entry that higher education was not their option, but destiny through extensive college preparation. In spite of their circumstances they persevered and defied the odds, proving that our people are blessed and talented beyond measure!! After the wackness I posted that is Wacka Flocka, it is past refreshing to shine light on young Black men walking in their royal light!!! WAY TO GO!!!!! (Can't wait to write about how they ALL graduated!!)

Viv's new single, new Louis, & Wacka's in JAIL.Wow.

Wacka Flocka JAILED-On Tuesday evening, the wackest rapper on the promotional circuit, Wacka Flocka Flame was arrested. Again. This time for probation violation when he exited the state of Georgia while on tour. He was previously sentenced and issued probation for carrying a sawed off shotgun, so this time he may be sitting in jail for a lil' while. The would-be rapper (one must lack skills to fit this description, no?) also made headlines after his prior arrest/ probation sentencing for carrying a sawed-off shotgun, and is in Houston County jail. All of this foolishness is after eight young were shot after Wacka's show, and his news-making scuffle 2-weeks ago at Walters, the sneaker mecca of Atlanta. I never could take him seriously, and now I just wish he'd sit DOWN somewhere?! All this criminal activity yet you dropped the WACKEST rap single of the year?? (No shade-Diddy's hop on the remix was official). Not sure if I'll continue to report on yet another rapper making news for #thuglife attempts as opposed to talent. I'm boring myself...

Vivan Green is back?!!-Most of my HU friends remember singing at the top of our lungs in the Towers to "Rollercoaster" by Vivian Green back in 2002. Well, Viv is back with her first studio album in 5 years! Her lead single, "Beautiful" is hitting radio and the video was just released. *deep sigh*

I really want to root for Viv as she's not in the stereotypical R&B/T&A get up we've grown accustomed to seeing (a la Beyaki & followers). Although the lyrics are nice, the melody isn't catchy to me nor is her voice melodic enough to request a repeat. Thoughts?? Enjoy below:


LOUIS should be the new LOUIS- Recently your favorite 106 & Park rappers have been photographed with an exclusive set of designer, hand-made, and crocodile, duffel bags and backpacks by Louis Stewart. Louis, who once designed for the iconic French fashion house Louis Vuitton, is now his own brand using hip-hop as a marketing tool. Even Lisa Raye has been spotted rockin' the bags. I support this trend for not only are the accessories flyyy with excellent craftsmanship (that I can tell) the designer's a Brotha!! Game, set, match!

Music News-GAGA & "Honey B", Diggy's got skills, and Monica's single!!!

'TELEPHONE' Video-  Thursday night at 11 central, Lady GaGa debuted her latest video: "Telelphone" featuring Beyaki herself, on E! News. Hyped-for-weeks, two of the most-fashionable (and arguably talented) pop divas teamed up to create a Jonas Ackerlund mini-movie! A lenghty-video with too many costume changes to count (all fierce though), it relies on a rather sketchy plot-line that involves jail, lesbians, Tyreese and poison. The choreography is great however, as is the cinematography.
     I love this video!!!! It doesn't look like anything else currently in rotation!! So many people bashed it, but I think it's the best B's done all year (If you mute her speaking lines) and edgiest I've seen GaGa (tell me you didn't DIE when she had the dancebreak in studded undies and stilletto boots?!?!) As a Tarintino fan I applauded the "Pussy Wagon" reference, and appreciated the makeup (the faces were BEAT). Don't take my gushing as gospel, but view for yourself!!


Chris Brown Doesn't Like Mixtape Relegation- Chris "Beatherdown" Brown is back on social networking mecca Twiter, and yes, this is a cry for more support from his fans. Earlier in the week Brown took to the net to plead that fans call into radio stations as he feels blackballed by lack of radio play and record sales of his last release, "Graffitti". This second attempt at Twitter, he's wondering if anyone... anyone at all will follow to boost his star-status. He was hot before Trey Songz remember?? Anyone?? *Crickets*

AKOO Model Interview, FAMU Fake??, & Naomi cleared of assault

MODEL TALK:AKOO MODEL SPEAKS OUT- The model in the AKOO billboard generating such a buzz* gave an interview with Essence.com. This 26-year old mother of a four-year old son saw nothing wrong with the ad, felt the controversy was over-hyped ("I can't believe it made CNN"), saw her attention as great for Black models and is pleased that AKOO increased promotional relevance by 200%.The photographer on-set at the time of the shoot was aiming for a Calvin Klein ad feel with overt sexual imaging, and AKOO decided to run with Dawn's shoot direction as she suggested the alternate "fellatio-pose".She also wanted readers to know that she was "sitting, not on my knees" (thank you for that clarification Dawn...we wouldn't want to get that twisted...)
        None of her statements surprised me, though I was rather saddened realizing that the basic sentiment is so long as she was paid and gained notoriety, she saw nothing wrong, in spite of opposing points presented. To the placement of negative imaging in our communities-the usual apathetic, kids see worse all the time, whomp,whomp, whomp. To her son possibly receiving a mixed message about women-it's the parent's job to teach the child, whomp whomp whomp. When will Black women realize that we can be responsible for the images of us but we must start by demanding more of ourselves. Inclusive of opting for a more socially responsible direction for a fashion brand with zero artistic, or couture fashion credibility (AKOO)- unlike Calvin Klein. I feel that old money and new money operate differently, just as Blacks shouldn't assume privilege in the commercial market because we now have enough money to play in the game.

FAMU SEX TAPE ALLEGED A FAKE - It's listed that the porno footage staring "FAMU Students" may not have used actual students at the university, just young Black porno actors who did in fact get paid. *side eye* Okay. If that is the truth, I'm not mad as that sits better with my soul anyhow. I did note the abundance of Rattlers that spoke out on Twitter that there's no WAY their school would produce such..."freaks". Ummmhmmm. Right.
NAOMI CAMPBELL CLEARED OF CHARGES- Yes everyone's favorite model with anger issues was cleared yesterday from the allegations against her, this time from her hired driver. Campbell was charged with assault (again) and now they will be lessened to harassment. Um...celebrate the small victories... :)
PRINCESS RIRI'S GETTING SUED BY HER TRAINER-Someone needs to talk to their accountant and demand a payroll examination!!! Trainer, is suing for $26,144 claiming she was not paid for her "exclusive personal training services" at $1,500 daily during September-October of 2009. She's also suing for travel reimbursement as she alleges she traveled across Europe for RiRi at the cost of $2,644.

AKOO JEANS:SAY AHHH, FAMU FILMING FREAKY BEHAVIOR, WAYNE WON'T GO, KEYSHIA'S BABY!!

AKOO AD: NEW JEANS OR FELLATIO PROMO?!?!-
AKOO Clothing, A King Of One's Self, is quickly gaining more publicityfor its racy advertising than clothes in its product line. The urban clothing line (of course) is owned by TIP (Clifford Harris), and this gem of an ad has sparked controversy since it was posted high in a Black neighborhood in Newark New Jersey.
    While Americans have been desensitized by sexual images for years now, this ad still struck a nerve with me as there is no message or background info on the line, nor it's owner. Simply a cute BLACK chick, groping on a male's pants, with her tongue out next to his man-stick, and his hand on the back of her head for..."encouragement". We ALL can infer the same message (either she just started or finished giving him head impressive enough for a billboard), for Mayor Corey Booker just announced the billboard will be taken down.
    Why must citizens have to view or infer anything so distasteful in THEIR community-an ad with no relevance to bettering the area in the midst of numerous issues plaguing the city?! Seriously?? Seriously!!
In no way am I throwing shade at TIP, as he is a Black entrepreneur, but where is the moral consideration for your community?? The marketing team/ ad-design campaign (CBS Outdoors) was careless enough to place an ad that evokes demeaning connotation in a low-economic community heavily populated by minorities. I have yet to see such an ad in Atlanta, but if I do the same questions would arise. I'm concerned that you would want US to consume, but are not concerned with the imaging and effects of such in OUR community. WOW.

SEXXING>STUDYING: STUDENTS @ FAMU?!?!?-Florida A&M University students have taken collegiate activities to another level. Several students, who are also closet porn directors, decided to film a seedy 42. min. long "sex tape" which simply is a low-budget orgy. In a dorm room. With the lights on, students clearly identified, and a bevy of athletic socks, sneakers, fitted sheets, Freshman year pics, and of course... STDs (I didn't spot any condoms). Very little shocks me anymore in media, but I was more floored at the lack of concern amongst the students?! I mean, young  Black students (at a prestigious University at that), who should be studying (as we've no clue who's struggling to support them whilst in school), used their student loan money for laptops and mini cams to broadcast their sexuality-FOR FREE!?!?! This is now available to any who care to watch. Deeply saddened as it almost defeats the purpose of educating yourself for better employment opportunities or entrepreneurship if you reduce yourself to a bootleg-Hustler-star-in-training. Even amateur porn stars get some check though... these young ladies discredited themselves for bragging rights on Twitter. WHATHEJOEJACKSONHELL?!?! Reason #453 I'm in the midst of writing my book... Jesus...take the wheel.

If you hadn't heard, Weezy's sentencing was postponed yet again as there was a basement fire in the New York Courthouse preventing...you know...the flow of justice, yadiiiiiiiiig!!!!! I'll be on baited breath awaiting if he ever will report to Rikers...

Toyota Takes "Responsibility", Playgirl wants M. Vick, & Monica's New EYE CANDY!!

KEEPS GETTING WORSE FOR TOYOTA- It's still all bad in the world of automotive giant TOYOTA. Today company President, Akido Toyoda, spoke before the House Committee of Oversight and Government Reform (with a translator) promising to take "Full Responsibility." A brief background filler: the company has been issuing recalls on several of their vehicle models due to increased acceleration (pedal issue), easily affecting over 8.5 million cars. The kicker is that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration received complaints for years and dragged their feet to take action. Lives were lost in the meantime whilst these major corporations pocketed money... surprised anyone?!?! We live in America where quality check comes a dead last behind capital, greed, quantity and demand. This is yet another embarrassment for the automotive industry as a whole to say the least. I should hope Toyota DOES take "full responsibility"...as everyone who bought a faulty car placed their LIFE in the fate of the autos built and sold by Toyota. PSA: DON'T rush to buy the new Camery's... justsayin...

PLAYGIRL MAGAZINE WANTS MIKE VICK!!!!-Seriously... it's being reported that the publication offered the reformed dog-fighter one million dollars if he would drop trou, and donate the money to PETA. WOW!!!!! Playgirl, the same magazine that offered the world Levi Johnston's penis on a platter, is now soliciting the best quarterback in the NFL! I just can't believe they're trying to spin Mike's star-fall so fast. Hopefully his publicist never leads Vick down that trashy road and that his great comeback continues with integrity.

-Today marks the start of the National "Let's Move" campaign, an initiative led by First Lady Michelle Obama to increase awareness and reduce the statistics in childhood obesity. Michelle's focusing on four major targets: promoting physical activity, healthier foods in schools, parental education and involvement, and making healthier food more affordable. Some of the more complex initiatives, inclusive of grants that promote healthier grocery stores in impoverished communities by offering tax-breaks, require government legislation.
 
   An ambitious undertaking as set to work alongside the numerous private, public, and government -funded organizations already in place to combat the growing epidemic. If left unchanged, younger generations run the risk of being the first slated to die before their parents due to health complications of their obesity. Diabetes and heart disease have been on the steady increase for years, both can be preventative results from obesity and a poor diet. As a **newbie vegetarian** and proponent for healthy eating, I couldn't be more pleased.
   Even Michelle admits to a soft spot for junk food, stating, "We're not talking about a lifestyle that excludes all that. The question is how do we help people balance that out so that they're not facing life-threatening, preventable illnesses, but they're enjoying their food, they're eating their vegetables, they're doing their running and walking and playing and still have time to get a good, fun meal in every once in a while."

WEEZY'S "GOIN' IIIIINNNNNNNNN"!!!!
-If you haven't heard by now, Lil Wayne was scheduled to plead guilty and begin serving in prison, sentenced to 8 months- 1 year for gun possession charges in July of 2007. *It was JUST announced that Wayne received an extension (due to dental surgery)- he won't have to appear before the judge again until March 2nd... ERR?!?!* Twitter and blogsites have been abuzz with photos from Weezy's last weekend out in Miami before his major stint. Surely you purchased Wayne's latest release, "Rebirth", his rap/rock album,or heard some Young Money family rap prophetically about their crew leader's fate on mixtapes. There's also been a media storm inclusive of the popular Rolling Stone cover/article, video message to his fans, and an exclusive MTV interview (see below) : 

    I received a lot of Twitter backlash because although I am empathetic to the sentiment- loss of  freedom's afforded- I don't feel Lil' Wayne's situation or conviction is unjust or without merit. Meaning, we know Wayne lived a lifestyle that violated the law as he's quick to promote such in every song, video, or public appearance. So as a grown, intelligent (you ain't know Wayne was SMART?! HE's GENIUS!!), wealthy Black man in America, I'm certain he was aware of the consequences from his actions if caught or convicted. Fans should take from this example, yet another rapper jailed post-glorifying criminal behavior in their lyrics, the fact that these men end up in... JAIL.
    For over 13 years I've watched rapper after rapper keep it all-too "real" by acting-out their lyrics often associated with hardened criminals. Many of the situations (especially Wayne's) could be avoided considering many rappers are affluent, have witnessed their peers fall victim to similar fates, and can devote their careers to being better artists. So WHY do we continue to see them in the headline news?? I will not be a supporter of indecent behavior, and if more folk took a stance of moral turpitude as opposed to celebrating excessive bafoonery dressed up as "REAL" "hard" or "gangsta", there would probably be less rappers in jail as they would (finally) start to loose fans.
   Predictions of Wayne's popularity post his release are HIMscarical to me. Unless he'll experience a life-change as prolific as *Malcom Little's, I'm highly skeptical of any moral or lyrical difference aside from increased street cred. I'm not trying to diss Weezy's talent. I'm a HUGE fan (since he was rappin' verse-for-verse w. Turk in tha Hot Boyz) but enough is enough. I'm sure he'll make it through this life's storm, and probably serve a shorter sentence than anyone could  imagine, but I'm not soliciting any additional prayer warriors on his behalf, or stressing as though he was wrongly accused. Or a Haiti earthquake victim. Or an undereducated DC youth, or even a solider in the CURRENT WAR?!?! -ok. off soap box-

Phenom Drew Brees took top MVP honors, and all of South Beach was painted Black and Gold (I'm told...) Any and every fan, resident, or band wagon-hopper all over the Nation is doin' the 2nd Line, called out sick at work, and booking tickets to Mardi Gras this wknd just to continue the wave of crunkness that has taken over. Congrats... although I was always rooting for the COLTS... CONGRATS!!! Seriously. The city was past-due for reasons to celebrate, and this cause will not only bring a boost to everyone's spirits, but to the New Orleans economy as well.

-So, most of you know of my tolerate/despise relationship with Kim Kardashian, particularly when it comes to her lil' chocolate man-candy that is Reggie Bush. My official summery: I've yet to understand/support her meteoric rise to fame and success off the strength of her sex tape with RAY J, yet I can't stop watching her reality show?! Sad. I know. So you already know I'm not a supporter of she and Bush's relationship and now rumored engagement. Howevs, 2010 is the year to try and spread more love... so I've not created any picket signs or thought of crashing their impending nuptials, Angela Davis 'fro and all!!!
   I was in fact pleasantly satisfied when the latest sidepiece rumor leaked: Bush's constant jump-off, Carmen Otega, has surfaced with a video of her giving a tour of  his Los Angeles CRIB!!!!! Way to throw salt on the eve of the alleged engagement announcement.

RADIO'S DYING, PEACE TO UGLY BETTY, "PANTS" @ GRAMMYS!!

RADIO (TEMPORARILY??) LOOSES TWO GREAT PERSONALITIES

-I don't know what's going on in the world when Washington, DC's Donnie Simpson, and Atlanta, Georgia's Joyce Littel, both part ways with their original home-stations?!?! Early last week, rumors flew that Atl radio station V103 and it's on-air personality Joyce Littel & signature Quiet Storm program, would part ways. The show will remain dubbed the "Quiet Storm", air during regular times, but there is no Joyce. No invited poets, sexy call-in's, exclusive live performances, nada. Also, yesterday it was announced that DC's legendary Donnie Simpson would no longer remain an on-air personality at WPGC. Donnie Simpson, "Green Eyes" who has hosted the morning show for over 32 years Seriously?? Both departures come as a shock, and additional signs that old radio, expressive, personable, and familiar, is crushed for new radio, commercial, indecent, and repetitive.
    We've all heard the Kathy Hughes PSA's, with her awkward-sounding self, encouraging listeners to alert their congressperson of the threatening tax on urban radio stations. Also, a growing trend, local on-air personalities and their "Morning Shows" have started to peel off for nationally syndicated shows by famous comedians. Now that two notable radio stars familiar in my development are gone, I am honestly questioning the state of radio as I once knew. Statistically, the ratings for radio have been trickling off for years as satellite and mp3 collections have become the norm. The younger generation thirsts for consistent personalities with uplifting vision that extends further than commercialism and marketing dollars. I hope local radio can find its way again; one day soon allow the underground and local artists with phenomenal talent a platform as opposed to the mediocre, obscenity-filled, and shallow-lyric-ed staples heard 24/7.

PANTS ON THE GROUND PERFORMANCE @ GRAMMYS-Well, General Larry Platt will be performing his sensational-hit "Pants On The Ground" on the red carpet before the ceremony. TMZ is reporting that he has yet to secure a ticket to the awards show taped live this Sunday. WOW. WHAT is the nation coming to?! I guess...

NAACP Shocks Again, Gilbert Suspended,

Happy  Thursday Kids!!!! What a blessed day, in spite of the chill!! Without further delay, let's git, git git iiiiiittt!!!!!!

NAACP Has Managed to SHOCK ME ONCE AGAIN?!?! Nominates Bravo's REAL HOUSEWIVES OF DULUTH FOR AN IMAGE AWARD??!?!?!?!
-I was shocked and appalled when Soul Train (NAACP supported their efforts) gave Ashanti the Aretha Franklin award (2002) during the height of Shani' mediocre career. However, I let it slide. I thought the mold was cracked and on the ground when two years ago the NAACP Image Awards began to honor Tyler Perry's House of Pain/ Meet The Browns. However, I came to understand that decision as one of principal in that Tyler's show was in the minority, an all-Black cast, etc. etc. I learned to let it go. This  year, however, is an all-time low, and makes me take an uber-critical look at the organization. How in the JOEJACKSONHELL can the NAACP honestly nominate RHOA in the "BEST REALITY PROGRAM" category?!?! Seriously?? SERIOUSLY!!!!?!! Logically, if the past ten years have unveiled anything, it's that major network television is past uninterested in projecting OUR images in abundance for the mass viewing audience. In other words, THEY don't really want us. So, the few Black shows on tv, even those at the peak of bafoonery are to be commended and recognized, I overstand that (Tyler Perry, Frankie and Neffie, Monica, One Big Happy Family, etc.) But Real Housewives Of Duluth, have in NO way displayed in the casts' "realities", attempts in the production or guest appearance choices, or succeeded in executing anything in the realm of a Positive Black female role model/ housewife/ affluent ATLien. COMON' SON!!!! (Stolen from EdLova).
Admittedly, I love the show, LOVE, LOVE , LOVE the drama?!?! However, I remain a critical, and intelligent thinker. Weekly examples of fighting, home foreclosures, impending divorce settlement delusion, half-attempts at entrepreneurship, adultery, child neglect, constant disrespect of others, "elitist" mentality, lack of manners and social tact, are all the reasons we're entertained...but should NEVER be celebrated?! 
We KNOW the show gets ratings, cause I am a faithful viewer/ fan- but I acknowledge that it is an exaggeration, pure shameless entertainment, and a guilty pleasure. I put about as much stock in DVRing ROHD as MTV's  "Jersey Shore". However, if the White/ Italian community began to honor the depictions of the Fistpumping-Champs on "JS", hell would freeze over. TWICE?!?!
It past irritates me that our people continue to honor and accept mediocrity as the exception and elevate sheer coonery based upon its popularity!! If the NAACP wants to do something really impressive, it would make more gallant stances as an organization on the issues that truly matter, like continuing the fight to further OUR realistic, multi-dimensional and diverse imaging on television, and demanding that we have more networks and radio stations in that same vein. *Steps Down From Soapbox (Temporarily)*

GILBERT, GILBERT, GILBERT?!?! WHEN KEEPIN' IT REAL DESTROYS YOUR CAREER

-Surely you've heard the news by now that NBA Commissioner David J.Stern in conjunction with the Washington Wizards, have agreed to suspend All-Star Gilbert Arenas. With No pay. Indefinitely. This stems from Gilbert's actions over a week ago, when he allegedly brought handguns from his home in VA to the Verizon Center, and in the locker room, allegedly ensued in an argument with teammate Javaris Crittenton.Gilbert flashed his gun, and was suspended from playing in the game. Though he apologized, last Tuesday during a press conference he was seen encircled by teammates, joking and flashing imitation guns with his fingers. Allegedly Gilbert thought that though he is a resident of VA, he could carry weapons in DC, but the law states otherwise. Only DC residents are allowed to carry weapons, and guns are NEVER allowed in the workplace. Gilbert was given a $111million contract, but missed THAT memo?!?! Seriously?! And WHAT gamblin' debt my brotha, would provoke you to take your pride to that extreme?! That which would cause you to possibly loose all that you worked so hard for?!?! I. can't. take. that. seriously.
Sure, he is now apologizing and caused no immediate harm to anyone, but there are thousands of Black/Brown men in prison with that same mentality and excuse. Even Al Sharpton is in agreement with the Commissioner's decision, so the only one left to get it together is Gilbert. WOW.

Abbriviated AMA Wrap UP!!!

Happy Monday!!!  So EVERYONE was tweeting and writing about the American Music Awards that aired last night on ABC. I did not have a front row seat nor catch the live showing, as I was trapped in that sickeningly-overrated New Moon. However, thanks to the diligent and speedy work of bloggers Necole Bitchy, and FreddyO.com. I have pieced together the more noteable performances for a mini-wrap-up (you know how I do). Made me feel like I was there... though clearly didn't miss too much. LOL. Let's GIT GIT GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

**Whitney Houston finally had her "comeback" performance of the year! She also took home the AMA for "International Artist". The tea was spilling that she may be back with her boonopolis Ray J- the two were seated near each other during the award ceremony and post show were spotted partying together... Get It Whitney!!!



JANET IS BACK!!!!!! SHE KILLED it with an opening medley of her Number One records!!!! I'm not feelin' the color choice of her performance outfit, but I appriciated the fashion risk on the style. Leave it to Janet to try and make it work.Well, E for Effort as she slaughtered her performace!!!!!


***In the vein of "Shoulda, woulda, coulda", Jennifer Lopez had an abysmal slip-up last night during her live performance of the song, "Louboutins". The track was originally written for R&B songstress Brandy, but Latin "sometime-pop star" Lopez snaked her for it. I keep rewinding and watching the slip up and my favorite quote, "Did you miss me" UM, NOOO?!?! Not performing THIS sub-parr??? It's HIMscarical to me. I dunno why...I don't think I'll be investing in the single, as the song does nothing for me.

Gucci Jailed-AGAIN, KASIM REED LOCKS IT IN, RiRi ROCKS!!!!!! (Yea, I said it!!)

Happy Friday Kids!!!!!!!! The weather this weekend will be LUV-LY if you're in the Atl, and there should be plenty to get involved with!!! I'm a lil' peeeved as I was slated to be in LA this wknd, but hell. Life happens. Hope to be in Sunny Cali next month... (smile) ANyWHO.... GUCCI MANE IN JAIL. AGAIN. SERIOUSLY?!?!?!
- The 28-year old rap wonder Gucci Mane, government-Raderick Davis, was sentenced to six months jail time yesterday in Fulton County, GA for probation violation. Gucci's stint in jail will be on the eve of his latest studio/ commercial release (Dec. 8, 2009) "The State Vs. Radrick Davis".
In 2005, Gucci was convicted of  hitting a club promoter with a pool cue, and ordered to complete 600 hours of Community Service. When he did not (surprise) he was sentenced to a year in jail, and upon release
headed directly to the recording studio to began his stellar 2009; appearing on over 5 commercial singles!! WHAT a way to end 2009- IN JAIL?!. This is yet ANOTHER example of when Keepin' It Real Goes Wrong (Thanks Dave).
I'm beyond bored, under impressed, and quickly disinterested in yet another rapper making national headlines for a conviction as opposed to a record sale. I'm even more irritated that the last few rappers in this category, Lil' Boosie, Lil' Wayne, T.I., and now Gucci Mane, are grown, rich, and (one would think) free-thinking individuals?!?! WHYthefcuk are these young men in situations that place their careers, families, and branding potential at stake?! I've been hearing of rappers going in and out of jail since I was in the fourth grade?!?! ENOUGH ALREADY!?!?! The bullox is so pathetic when you examine the reality of urban communities across the nation, see the need for more positive Black male role models, realize that young children look up to these rappers, yet the rapper's decision making skills do not improve. SMDH. WHEN will collective hip-hop grow up??? I'm the biggest hip-hop fan, but am quickly loosing interest in the coon-tastic behavior exhibited and promoted by this new class of artists. It's trife. I'm just sayin...


KATT WILLIAMS IS ACTING A FOOOOL?!?! WHERE IS HIS PUBLICIST?!?!
-WHAT the JOEJACKSONHELL is goin' on w. Katt Williams?!?!? Last night Williams held a press conference to announce that he was allegedly kicked out of a penthouse suite with a pre-paid (Ca$h) seven-night stay. According to Access Atlanta, Katt stated, "I'm at the point now where I'm standing out here with millions of dollars in movies and TV specials sold and most of them done right here in Atlanta," Williams Continued, "And to be ceremoniously dismissed at a hotel is sad."
The sketch meter goes through the roof as reports say that spokespersons from the hotel have NO record of Williams staying at the hotel. SMDH. THIS foolish act is fresh off the arrest Sunday in Coweta county for breaking and entering, and a week prior to that evading a kidnapping charge. Katt...Seriously?? SERIOUSLY!!!?! Maybe this is an extended publicity stunt, but it's getting too many side eyes to be considered a success. If he's on drugs, let's get him some rehab and a role model. If he is stressed, let's demand that he takes a career break... but for crying out crazy, PLEASE get him OUT of the media light?!?! SHEESH. EM-barrasssing.

Tyson Wins Brawl @ LAX- Not A Prizewinning Fight

-Mike Tyson was arrested yesterday for assaulting a random *papp whilst trying to exit the uber-crowded LAX airport in Los Angeles California. Tyson, 43 and his daughter, were surrounded by relentless photogs (reports state) and he asked repeatedly to be left alone. The conflict gets a bit sketch when the punch was thrown- Tyson's camp says that while he and his daughter were at the ticket counter, the papp got too close, and struck Tyson in an attempt to provoke. So, Tyson threw the punch in self defense. The photog's camp says- Tyson is an animal that punched him (unprovoked) in the face. RIIIGHT. The factual result was the aggressive papp was knocked to the ground and a bloody trail lingered as he skulked away through the airport.
Tyson was arrested for misdemeanor battery, left LAX in a squad car, and quickly posted bail ($20,000). After a similar incident several months ago with Kaynye West and a papp, surely LAX should consider legislation that protects celebs from invasion of their space and privacy, especially when traveling with their families!! Hey Pap- You got knocked the ###$@ OUT!!!!! AHAHAHA.

PIMP DOWN!!!! MAN DOWN!!!! PIMP IN DISTRESS!!!!

-If you haven't heard by now, famed comedian and actor Katt Williams ("It's PimPIN-Pimpin'!!) was arrested this weekend in Coweta Co. Georgia, for.... burglary charges?!?!?! The actor, allegedly in the Atlanta suburb filming a movie, was caught trying to remove jewelry and other goods through forcible entry. That's right, Katt was caught for breaking in his homie's house?! The homeowner, music producer Barry Hankerson, immediately called the police. Williams remained jailed throughout Monday, until he posted $40,000.00 in bail.
This story gets even more foolish as Katt and his lawyer have been loudly proclaiming that he wears more than the accused stolen amount of jewls on his person. WTH?!?! There are also audio tapes of a 911 call made by a 17-year-old young man just a week prior to Katt's arrest claiming that Williams was holding him hostage. No charges were filed, but these incidents are amidst a string of public foolywang...more as this story slowly falls apart...

-It's official: Shaunie O'neal filed official legal separation with the intent to divorce on Monday in Los Angeles. Shaunie also wasted no time in removing her children from school in Florida and moving them to LA as well. DC Sniper Put to Eternal Sleep

-At 9:11pm Tuesday evening, the Commonwealth of Virginia reigned justice on convicted murderer John Muhammad, 48, by lethal injection. Muhammad was convicted of murdering over 10 random and innocent victims throughout Virginia, DC, and Maryland during the spring of 2002. He and young accomplice, Lee Boyd Malvo, went on a random killing spree, senselessly paralyzing the "DMV" for three long weeks. I remember... I was there. Officers say he did not utter a single word, and the death was witnessed by several of the victims' family members. I'm not a fan of capital punishment, and although the crime he was convicted of is very horrifying (I'm still not convinced they did it- another blog), it's still unsettling to me that the Virginia Commonwealth rushed his death, yet mass murderer Charles Manson is still alive.

Princess RiRi will return to ABC's 20/20- as she IS their lil' ratings darling- and debut her much anticipated hawtness "Russian Roulette" SWOOOON!!!! Chris "Beatherdown" Brown is taking a similar, albeit raunchier approach and debuting his latest, "Crawl" on that GAWD-Awful Wendy Williams Show (Shudder). Who do YOU think will win the ratings and fan approval?? (Anyone wanna put some money down, come see me!!)

Sammy Sosa: Really A Latino, Just Overdosed On Bleach

-So, baseball great Sammy Sosa was photographed all last week looking (scarily) about 5 shades lighter than he would normally appear. In addition to his newly-lightened skin, Sosa was also photographed wearing colored contact lenses. WOW. Just yesterday Sosa admitted to applying a bleaching cream to his skin, however he did not admit that he was channeling Michael Jackson. Cut it out Sammy, it's either an obsession with MJ or intense self-hatred that would EVER make someone want to bleach their skin to such a degree. Jesus... take the wheel.

Happy THURSDAY KIDS!!!!! I had a great evening last night, enjoying the sounds of Wed.'s open-mike night @ the infamous Apache!!!! Today, mad tired, so maybe it wasn't such a great idea. Rihanna's Interview Breaks Silence-Sheds Light
-This morning, the first half of the much-hyped interview with Princess RiRi and Diane Sawyer (FAV) aired on Good Morning America. RiRi looked great (as I must say), and appeared confident and controlled. She gave a high-level account of her violent attack in Febuary, but focused less on the details of the incident and more on her reactions post-media frenzy. She even discusses feeling obligated as a role model for young women, judged on her decision to go back to "Beatherdown". 
When questioned about her decision to return to Chris "Beatherdown" Brown, RiRi gets teary and advises young women to "EFF LOVE, cause LOVE is blind". She continues that women should remove themselves from the situation and look at it objectively in order to see clearly. I reallllllly felt for her, not only bc I'm a fan, but bc everyone plays the fool for love, but no one wants to be treated like that... and in public?!?! WOW. I
found myself loosing even more respect for "Beatherdown" bc RiRi appeared scared, and clearly embarassed not only for playing victim but for even dating such a mess.
I am beyond eager to see what the full interview tomorrow on 20/20 will air.

-The machine that is Matthew Knowles was successful in yet another business deal in the steps towards Beyaki's world domination. Media Fake Out is reporting that Papa Knowles is thisclose to closing a deal for Beyaki to perform exclusively at the Wynn Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, commanding upwards of $100 million annually for a minimum of (5) five years. I repeat. BEYAKI could make upwards of $500,000,000.000- pushing her into the stratusphere of entertainment wealth. WOW. That's dumb money, but really, where else would you expect to see Beyaki??? She's getting up there in age (though it's not reflected in her strobe lighting, constant wind machine and couchie-cutting leotards) and Vegas has ALL the amenities an uberceleb like she would require for nightly performances. All the bedazzle she could ever dream or demand, and a constant audience thrilled to see her writhe and grind whilst they down free liquor! BRING. IT. ON!!!!! I'll even pay for that...

Real-Life Horror in Ohio
-Yesterday, Ohio police officers raided the home of UBER creepy- mass-murderer and convicted sex-offender Anthony Sowell, and found four new bodies in addition to the six that were found last week. That brings the latest total to (10) ten bodies. Yes, this monster had been raping women and stashing their bodies throughout his HOME.
Other disgusting facts about the findings include bodies stuffed in crawl spaces, and a skull wrapped in a bag placed in the trash can. This story reads like a plot line for a new SAW flick, but it is beyond saddening to know that all these women lost their lives. Even worse, if at all measurable, is the fact that neighbors complained of an odor for years, and dozens more women are now coming forward to say they were also rape victims living in fear of their lives. I'm praying for the families of all the victims involved.

-Atlanta Mayoral candidate Kasim Reed (HU!!) will continue campaigning as the votes were. Yesterday's elections showed a poor voter turn-out overall, and it looks like whichever candidate can get their supporters BACK out to the polls on Dec. 1st will win!!! NO DOUBT Kasim Reed will be the next Mayor of Atlanta!!!!!! On a similar note, a major order of business that neither candidate is listing as a priority is that of the environment and pollution within the city/ surrounding cities in Atlanta. A new article in Forbes lists the ATL as the "most toxic city" in America. WOW. Message!!

-So Sheree Whitfield, a classic character on the Real Housewives Of Duluth, was once married to Bob Whitfiled, former NFL star. Whilst they were married, allegedly Sheree got freak-yy, nast-yy, and plastic-yyyy according to Bob's recent interview on the Nigel and Marco radio show?! Bob blasts Sheree on front street claiming to have paid for Sheree's breasts and nose. He also says that he has sexy pictures and a sex tape of Sheree. Bob continues saying he feels he "Created Frankenstein"... well isn't that taking allll the credit... ?!?! LOL. The Soul Train Awards were taped last night in Atlanta, and there was a hodgepodge of Black Hollywood in the city!!! Amidst all the (allegedly) amazing performances, red carpets, and stunting via Twitter Pics, I'm eager to see the results!! I wasn't present at the show taping, which premieres on the 29th of November on BET, but one of my fav. bloggers -Necole Bitchy had a great wrap-up and photo stills. Enjoy!

Lady GaGa Visited 106

-In what is yet another attempt to remain "current" and "multi-cultural" (WTH BET?!?!) BET's 106 and Park featured Lady GaGa as yesterday's guest. GaGa looked extra great (I'm a huge fan) and her shoes were swooon worthy, but it all seemed forced to me. Like, really?? are we REALLY gonna see a GaGa track on the top 10 here people?? At least she promoted her new duet/ cover of Beyaki's "Videophone". (Wasn't THAT track screaming for some assistance???) The two will premiere their video for the single tomorrow.
